On Saturday, November 7, 2026, the full Theo collection comes to River Oaks for a single day.
Born in Antwerp, Made for Individuals
Theo began in Antwerp in the late 1980s with two opticians who believed eyewear could be far more expressive than what the industry was offering. Wim Somers and Patrick Hoet spent their days fitting frames for real people and saw an opportunity: glasses designed as objects worth noticing. So they created them.
They named it Theo, an anagram of Hoet. Nearly forty years on it remains a family business, now led by the second generation, still produced in small European runs with the same conviction it started with.
Antwerp matters here. The city had just become one of the most adventurous fashion capitals in Europe, and Theo grew out of that energy. The frames carry it still, wherever in the world they end up.
Eyewear Built Around a Face
Most frames are designed for an average face that does not exist. Theo works the other way around, starting from the particulars: a brow that wants lifting, a bridge that sits high or wide, the millimetres of proportion that make one frame vanish on a face and another come alive.
The consequence is that not every Theo suits everyone, and the house has never pretended otherwise. That restraint is precisely why the ones that do fit, fit completely.
The Case for Color
Color is Theo’s signature, and it is handled with more discipline than the reputation suggests. Saturated tones sit on acetate cut thin enough to stay weightless. Combinations nobody else would attempt, yellow against purple, lime against black, land as considered rather than loud.
Some of it is genuinely neon and glows under a black light. A small piece of mischief in an otherwise serious object.
What a Trunk Show Actually Is
Any boutique, ours included, carries a fraction of what a brand makes. Wall space is finite, and buying a collection means choosing a handful of styles and a handful of colors within each one.
A trunk show suspends that limit for a day. The brand sends the collection in full, we clear the room for it, and everything Theo currently produces is in front of you at once. You try what you like, order what fits, and it is made to your prescription and sent on.
Why a Single Day Matters
The frame you fall for in the case may exist in seven other colors you will never see. A boutique stocks three or four of any style. Theo produces as many as eight.
The lime green, the specialty tone, the one you pictured before you walked in: usually it is the one not on the shelf. On November 7 it is.
Why We Carry Theo
The Eye Gallery is built like a gallery on purpose. We carry independent houses from Japan, France, Germany and Belgium, chosen one at a time by people who go to the shows and know the makers, and we keep the room quiet so the frames can be the loudest thing in it.
Theo earns its place in that room through sheer originality, and that is exactly why you will not find it on every wall in Houston.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I book an appointment?
Yes. Call 713-523-1279 to book. An appointment secures an optician’s full attention while the collection is here, and it is here for one day only. Walk-ins are welcome throughout the day; an appointment simply guarantees the time.
What time is the Theo trunk show?
All day on Saturday, November 7, 2026, during regular store hours at the River Oaks boutique.
Do I have to buy on the day?
No. You are welcome to come and try. Ordering on the day is simply how you secure a colorway we do not stock, since the collection leaves with the representative.
Can I order prescription lenses?
Yes. Every frame can be fitted with prescription lenses, including progressives.
Is this happening at both Eye Gallery locations?
No. The Theo trunk show is at the River Oaks boutique on Westheimer only.
